Dedicated to Family
I want to ask, how is your family doing today? I know we all have demands, bills, and a to-do list that cannot wait. We are forced to keep moving even if we want to stop and smell the roses. This is normal, but should it be? If you haven't grabbed your Black Cup of Joe yet, I want you to get it now, things are about to get warm and cozy.
Oh, and for you non-coffee drinkers, grab your tea!
I was talking on the phone while in the car. The conversation was on through the car. I put the phone in its holder to be hands-free, and I think, perfect, I am being safe and doing great. My oldest then said to me when the conversation ended and I pulled to a stop sign, "Mom, don't make any more calls. Just enjoy the car ride." I wasn't sure if it was what she said or how she said it that cost my attention the most. After thinking more, I would say it would be because she felt she needed to say it that meant the most.
I am committed, like all of us, to providing for my children. I know what they need, but it can be easy to miss how they feel. I instantly felt convicted about the split or shared time I give to my children more often than I care to remember. I am busy taking care of them, but how busy am I with caring for them?
I made it a point to keep the phone on silent and listen to them joke and talk about subjects I often mute out when thinking of what captures my attention. It was then that I decided to truly give my undivided attention to them while in the car as we do for movie night.
If you haven't sip your coffee or tea, please do so now with perhaps a bit less caution. I think some of the steam may have left, but not too much. Nothing beats a good Black Cup of Joe or Hot Tea that gives you wings for the day. Enjoy the rest of your drink, and please join me again.
