Starting Your New Business!

So I was talking with our Partner Krystal of KLE, and she shared with me a few things she thought any woman going into business should know. The conversation got juicy, so I had to share. We were talking about the first few years she went into business and what she learned. Here is what she told me:


My first company was officially started when I was 18 years old. I wasn’t sure what I was doing, but I had a knack for watching what others do to learn on my feet. I started a production business while I was in school, and I didn’t have big plans. I was honestly winging it! It turned out that I had landed three weddings within the first year. The first wedding was long, and I undersold myself for sure based on how much time I spent. 


BUT it was worth it! I learned a lot about myself. I learned how to use my equipment and saw the value of backup cameras. The worst feeling is to miss an event you cannot recreate, and the client is pissed about it. Rightfully so. I learned at that moment to double down and that it is better to have something twice than to miss it once. 



Likewise, you do not have a business if your entire business is based on one client! I remember being told this by a few different CEOs, and because I heard it so much, I knew I had to diversify my income. I always had at least two streams of income rolling at one time. When one was slow, the other would pick up. 


If I could give any woman a piece of advice, it would be to find out what you like and are good at. See how you can do that across different platforms and keep winning all the way around. Whatever you want to do, it is possible to get it done. It may take people and money, but it will have a payoff. So keep grinding, and don’t give up!


A little about Dr. Krystal Lee: She owns two companies, Blessed Women Company and Krystal Lee Enterprises, and operates a non-profit organization, TUG Outreach Inc. She is passionate about helping individuals start their businesses and making it all make sense. She started with affiliate businesses and referred people for services they needed. Then, she built her own business to continue her passion for business.
